CURLS CURLS CURLS

Not every 2 curl patterns are the same.  As a matter of fact, there are several different patterns per head.  Many people may not agree with this chart but at least there is something for you to identify with.  Below check out the chart to help you find your curl pattern.

2A-2C

 2A (thin/Fine)

This type of hair is the loosest curl pattern with a stretched S like curl patterns.  It appears to be on the thin side with a circumference less than 2 inches when it's in a ponytail.  For some people, this hair type tends to be oily or extra dry.  Be cautious with coloring since fine hair when treated with chemicals can easily break and tangle.  But overall this type is easy to manage.

The best way to care for this hair type.

Even though this hair type is easy to style, it's usually fine in texture so it needs the appearance of volume.  If it appears fine, the best way is to cut it at shoulder length with a few layers. That way it would appear fuller. Don't apply heat too often.  It will dry out and eventually break the hair.

  • Use volumizing products.
  • Use gentle nontoxic shampoos and conditioners.
  • Use products with lots of moisture and hydration to keep it from drying.
  • Do not use too much oil when styling even though oil treatments are great.

2B (wavy/medium)

This hair type has a more S shape than type 2A.  Even though it's prone to frizziness, it's less drying unless its shampooed too often, treated with harsh chemicals like color and damaging hair products. Some 2b hair type is straighter at the root than the ends while others are curlier at the root than the ends.  Like I mentioned before, no 2 hair types are the same.  This hair type can be deceiving.  it gives the appearance of fullness even though it may be fine. For more appearance of volume, use a curl enhancing product and flip your hair upside down then scrunch it with your fingers.  For best results, use a defuser to define your curls.

It's best to keep this hair long so it can weight down, that way it helps soften the look and balance out the waves.

With this curl pattern, you can play with pretty much any look.  This hair type defines itself. To keep it from getting frizzy, use anti-frizz and curl enhancer products.  To style, you can rod set, bantu knots, or even finger curl it.  As long as you use the right products you shouldn't have any issues with styling.
